Manabu Peak is one of the best minor climbs near Metro Manila for many different reasons. First is the close proximity from the busy Mega Manila, Second is the wonderful view at the campsite, third is the free civet coffee offered halfway along the trails by Tatay Tino. They were doing this for many years already starting from the late Tatay Perying who's very well known in the mountaineering community for making that halfway rest stop worthwhile for climbers. Tatay Tino also sell's civet coffee to climbers who wish to extend the experience at home. Domingo Family with their 3year old son After the climb, we visited Jun Jun Barrios Coffee Shop "NORTHERN LIGHT KAFFE" located inside Fiesta Mall Compound. We were surprised to learn that there's a coffee shop built for mountaineers there. The place is cozy enough for mountaineers to relax and enjoy the view of Malarayat Mountain Range which can be seen from the cafe. It's big enough to accommodate 30 to 50 hikers. The Coffee and the food is superb, I must say that the owners made an incredible job. Try to visit them before climbing and enjoy what they have to offer.
